Brief Introduction to Calcination of Petroleum Coke
Calcined petroleum coke is widely used in steelmaking, chemical industry, building materials, casting materials, machinery, petroleum exploration and other industries( 1) Carbon industry can be applied to: aluminum carbon, graphite electrode, graphite anode, carbon electrode, carbon anode, carbon refractory carbon paste products, high-purity graphite, graphite products, graphite chemical equipment, etc( 2) Carbon increasing agent and foaming agent are the main raw materials for steelmaking( 3) It is the basic chemical raw material for preparing sodium hydride and high-purity CO in the chemical industry( 4) The machinery industry is an important raw material for processing mechanical seals.
When the graphite electrode for steelmaking or the anode paste (melting electrode) for aluminum and magnesium making, the raw coke must be calcined in order to make the petroleum coke (raw coke) meet the requirements. The calcination temperature is generally about 1300 ℃ in order to remove the volatile of petroleum coke as much as possible. This can reduce the hydrogen content of petroleum coke reprocessed products, improve the graphitization degree of petroleum coke, improve the high temperature strength and heat resistance of graphite electrode, and improve the conductivity of graphite electrode. Calcined coke is mainly used to produce graphite electrode, carbon paste products, diamond sand, food grade phosphorus industry, metallurgical industry and calcium carbide, among which graphite electrode is the most widely used. Raw coke can be directly used as calcium carbide as calcium carbide main material and silicon carbide and boron carbide as grinding materials without calcination. It can also be directly used as coke for blast furnace in metallurgical industry, carbon brick for blast furnace wall lining, dense coke for casting process, etc.
Production process:
Petroleum coke – calcination at high temperature in calcination furnace – calcined petroleum coke – screening – packaging into finished products.
