Factors affecting electrode consumption include smelting process, electrode material and quality, oxidation of electrode surface, electric furnace load, electrode accident and electrode management.
The self-baking electrode consumption per unit weight of the product is shown in the table below. Silicon-manganese alloys, silicon-chromium alloys, ferrosilicon, carbon ferrochromium and other submerged arc electric furnaces consume relatively low electrodes with little difference in power consumption. Silicon-calcium alloy consumes more electrodes because some of the electrodes are used as carbonaceous reducing agents. Participated in the high-temperature reduction reaction. Due to the long exposure time of the arc in the production process of low- and medium-carbon ferromanganese, low-carbon ferrochrome, and ferro-tungsten, the electrode oxidation loss is greater, so the electrode consumption is higher than that of the submerged arc furnace.
