In the past few years, when some domestic companies exported electrode pastes to the former CIS countries, such as Russia and Kazakhstan, the other party requested the flow coefficient to be tested, and thus introduced the flow coefficient test method. At present, this method is used in domestic electrode paste factories. More popular. The flow coefficient test method is to put a certain amount of electrode paste in the container shown in Figure 4, at a temperature of 250 ± 10 ℃, a constant temperature of 30 ten minutes, the measuring electrode paste flows to the iron plate under the container, and The average diameter of the electrode paste cake formed by the extension, and the ratio of the diameter to the diameter of the container outlet is the flow coefficient of the electrode paste. The diameter of the container outlet is 50 mm.
Experience has shown that this method of testing flow coefficient is simple and easy to implement, and is suitable for on-site quality control of electrode paste. The electrode paste used in the unobstructed ferroalloy furnace has a suitable flow coefficient between 1.5-2.0. If it is lower than 1.5, the electrode paste will be dry, the compressibility is not good, and it is not easy to form a dense electrode; if it is higher than 2.0, the electrode paste is prone to segregation, leading to hard fracture of the electrode.
2. Elongation
The People’s Republic of China Ferrous Metallurgy Industry Standard [Test Method for Electrode Paste Elongation YB/T5289-2001] specifies the method for measuring electrode paste elongation. The method is to heat the electrode paste into a special mold, press it into a round bar sample with a diameter of 25 mm and a height of 80 mm, and then put the round bar sample into a circular groove on a special inclined plate. The temperature is 8.33°, the temperature is kept at 200°C for one hour, and the percentage of elongation of the round bar sample is measured, which is the elongation of the electrode paste. Because this method needs to press round rod samples, it is more troublesome and is not suitable for on-site quality control of electrode paste.
