Ferromanganese alloy smelted by electrode paste furnace
In modern industry, manganese and its compounds are used in various areas of the national economy. Iron and steel industry is the most important field, with manganese accounted for 90% ~ 95%, mainly as a deoxidizer and desulfurizer in the process of iron and steel, and used to make alloy. The remaining 10% ~ 5% of manganese is used in other industrial fields, such as chemical industry (manufacturing various manganese containing salts), light industry (used in batteries, matches, paints, soap making, etc.), building materials industry (colorant and fading agent for glass and ceramics), national defense industry, electronics industry, environmental protection, agriculture and animal husbandry, etc. In short, manganese has a very important strategic position in the national economy.
Manganese ore products include metallurgical manganese ore, manganese carbonate ore powder, manganese dioxide powder for chemical industry and manganese dioxide powder for battery, etc. Metallurgical departments, light industry departments and chemical departments that use manganese ore products have different quality requirements for manganese ore products according to different uses.
Quality requirements of manganese ore in metallurgical industry
The iron content is not limited in the ore used for steelmaking pig iron, manganese pig iron and mirror iron, and the total content of manganese and iron in the ore can best reach 40% ~ 50%.
In the smelting of various grades of manganese series alloys, the manganese content and ferromanganese ratio of ores are required. Smelting medium and low carbon ferromanganese, ore manganese content 36% ~ 40%, ferromanganese ratio 6 ~ 8.5, phosphorus manganese ratio 0.002 ~ 0.0036; Smelting carbon ferromanganese, ore manganese content 33% ~ 40%, ferromanganese ratio 3.8 ~ 7.8, phosphorus manganese ratio 0.002 ~ 0.005; Smelting manganese silicon alloy, ore containing manganese 29% ~ 35%, ferromanganese ratio 3.3 ~ 7.5, phosphorus manganese ratio 0.0016 ~ 0.0048; Blast furnace ferromanganese, ore manganese content 30%, ferromanganese ratio 2 ~ 7, phosphorus manganese ratio 0.005.
Quality requirements of manganese ore for chemical and light industry departments
In chemical industry, manganese ore is mainly used to make manganese dioxide, manganese sulfate, potassium permanganate, and then used to make manganese carbonate, manganese nitrate and manganese chloride. Chemical grade manganese dioxide mineral powder requires MnO2 content to be greater than 50%(Table 3.3.3). When making manganese sulfate, Fe≤3%, Al2O3≤3%, CaO≤0.5%, MgO≤0.1%; When making potassium permanganate, Fe≤5%, SiO2≤5%, Al2O3≤4%.
Natural manganese dioxide is the raw material for the manufacture of dry batteries, the higher the content of MnO2, the better. For Ni, Cu, CO, Pb and other harmful elements, the general factory standard is: Cu<0.01%, Ni<0.03%, CO <0.02%, Pb<0.02%. The particle size of the powder should be less than 0.12mm.
